Chapter 20 Shadows Of Despair

• Cold winter night clings to the halls of the pack house as I move quickly along, my heart thumping against my chest. Zeus has returned-and earlier than I would ever have imagined he might, though I had no idea what he could know, nor what his anger was. My mind still reeled at the chance encounter with Hades; the warmth of his touch lived on across my skin. But now all of this was erased from my mind because an encroaching figure that seemed quite gigantic and impending filled my thoughts: the figure of Alpha Zeus.
• I had barely stepped into the hallway that led to his chambers when I had caught a glimpse of him: Alpha Zeus, standing there, waiting for me. His towering, broad frame cast shadows in the dim light corridor; piercing eyes immediately zeroed in on mine as soon as I entered. It sent a shiver down my spine and something menacing seemed hidden in his gaze, making the air feel thick with tension.
