Chapter 41 A Prisoner Again

It seemed as if the world around me was ending. Zeus's icy stare met mine, and my heart paused as he moved his gaze to the twins he now saw nestled in my arms. I clutched them closer, the heat from their tiny bodies anchoring me even as terror began to creep into every pore of my body.
"Archer, thank you for your loyalty," Zeus said, his voice startlingly calm as he pressed a thick envelope into Archer's hands, no doubt filled with money. Archer took it hesitantly, glancing between me and Zeus with confusion etched across his face.
