Chapter 10 The Tension Between Us

• I stood in the bathroom, but the soothing purr of water was a distant memory as I tried to understand everything from each possible angle. Alpha Zeus was not something anyone could read ever. He had been a storm I couldn't tell when it was going to come at me. But today was different. Today, something felt different. There had been a spark in his eyes today that left me unsettled more than I would have cared to admit.
• I breathed slowly and rose, scrubbing at the remaining moisture on my hands as I stepped out into the hallway. I needed to clear my head, but deep breath after deep breath was not going to clear Zeus from my mind. His calm, his control… it was maddening.
