Chapter 31 The City Beyond The Forest
- Aphrodite's Point of View
- The crisp chill of nighttime hung about my skin as we made our way through the dark forest of trees, their long limbs reaching out in the shadowy light shining under a moon that didn't show much. My legs were sore, but I could feel Zeus in every step, watching, hunting us down. Hades kept pace with me, his face set, determined, but I could sense the fatigue in every step. We had been running for hours, and the immeasurable expanse of the forest seemed to stretch out infinitely to continue on, but we could not quit—not yet, until we felt perfectly safe.
- And it seemed like ages had passed before finally reaching the edge of the forest. I could see a road just beyond that line of trees, curving down into a small city in the valley below. The sight of it felt like a glimmer of hope in the darkness.
