Chapter 77 Shopping Trip

The next day, Cynthia stretched widely before getting up from bed. She patted her face to cheer herself up and tossed yesterday’s happenings to the back of her mind. When she turned and saw the brooch and necklace neatly placed before her mother’s urn, she felt proud for having helped her mother take back more of her belongings. After saying her greetings to her mother, she went to wash up with her spirits lifted.
Today, she went to work as usual. When she walked into the design department, she noticed that everyone was looking at her oddly; they were gazes filled with sympathy. She couldn’t figure out what was going on at all, thus pulled out a mirror and checked herself. Do I have something on my face? Why are they looking at me in sympathy? Did I offend someone? No way, I’ve only been here for a short while.
No matter how she racked her brains, she couldn’t figure out the reason. All she did was quietly shake her head, tossing those weird thoughts to the back of her mind. “Just go with the flow, I guess,” she consoled herself as she shrugged.
