Chapter 14 Garbage Disposal Center

  • Larry looked at the manager and was about to drive the man away when he saw James’ arms around Cynthia. At that, Larry felt a little flustered in his heart. He was from the Dragontail Corporation and his family was wealthy, so how could he be losing respect in front of his woman?
  • "I was invited by Marvin Wunderland. How dare you drive me out!"
  • He brought up Marvin Wunderland, the director of the human resource department of Lewis Incorporated because he was friends with the man. It was Marvin who provided the invitation that Shirley held this time.
  • While listening to Larry's words, Shirley couldn't help but feel that Larry still had a prominent status, so she tightened her grip on his arm.
  • “Marvin?” James frowned coldly. He knew who Marvin was as that man was the person in charge of this event. So what, though? I can still order him to pack up and leave in minutes.
  • After sneering, he took his phone out with his slender fingers and called Charles. “Call Marvin and ask him to come backstage within a minute.”
  • Upon saying those words, he disconnected the call. As for Charles, he also hung up the phone and called Marvin in a rush.
  • Now that Larry had listened to the tone of the man opposite him, he felt a little worried but still held onto his beliefs and felt that James wouldn’t have such a great influence. Marvin was the director of human resource in Lewis Incorporated, after all; he was not a nobody.
  • Thus, Larry thought that James was merely pretending and that the man wouldn’t be able to order Marvin to come over.
  • Yet, in less than a minute, a man with a round belly came running toward them from a distance, the fat on his body constantly jiggling as he sweated profusely.
  • This man was none other than Marvin, whom James asked to come over within a minute.
  • When Marvin passed by Larry, he ignored Larry and didn't even give him a look. Instead, he ran to James and said respectfully, "Young Master James, are you looking for me?"
  • Seeing that Marvin was profusely sweating, James coldly scolded, "Look at what you’ve done. When has Lewis Incorporated become a garbage disposal center? Can just about anyone enter with their invitations?"
  • When he heard James' chilly voice, Marvin was so frightened that cold sweat broke out on his back. Then, he saw Larry standing there and thought about the invitation that James had mentioned moments ago. It was only at that point when Marvin knew that Larry must have angered James without realizing it.
  • Thus, a stern Marvin immediately asked Larry and Shirley to leave and did not give them any room for negotiation. At that, Larry looked at Marvin in disbelief as he couldn’t believe how powerful James was. Even Marvin is so afraid of him; who is he?
  • As Larry froze in place, James had only needed to cough once that Marvin and the manager hurriedly dragged Larry out. As the two men supported Larry’s weight, he had to leave in humiliation and Shirley had no choice but to follow Larry in his departure. She felt resentment rising in her heart; in fact, she never thought that Cynthia would be close to such a powerful man and this realization only made the jealousy course through her veins. Nevertheless, she was also curious about the man’s identity and swore to learn more about it.
  • Cindy, just you wait!
  • At this moment, Cynthia watched in stoicism as Larry and Shirley left. When everyone had left, Cynthia coughed awkwardly so that James would release his hand around her waist.
  • He no longer had the indifferent expression that he had earlier and instead teased her, “Hehe... You're quite good at stirring up trouble!”
  • When she heard the man’s slight mock, she was a little embarrassed because it seemed that ever since she had met him, he would always witness her making a fool of herself each time.
  • Her face was a little red, but she was relaxed when she replied, “Thank you for helping me just now.”
  • While looking at Cynthia's somewhat embarrassed expression and remembering her indifference toward all the fuss that was made earlier, James felt that she was cute as a shy woman. Thus, Thus, a faint but sincere smile appeared by the corners of his lips.
  • Abandoning the thought in his mind and recollecting what that other man had said before, he added in his usual magnetic voice, “The Lewis Incorporated Fashion Show is on the third floor. You can go and try your luck there.”
  • Cynthia froze for a moment before she understood what James meant. She was about to explain when Charles came up to whisper a few words in James’ ear. After listening to what had been said, the man became furious and his expression changed as he roared, “Why isn’t there anyone in the lounge? The exhibition will start soon, so why didn't you get in touch? If the exhibition is delayed, are you going to take responsibility for it?"
  • Charles had rarely seen James exasperated, so he replied with a trembling voice, “I’ll deal with it right away, right away...”
  • At first, she wanted to explain herself, but she stopped when she saw that James was beyond mad. Then, he left in a hurry.
  • As Cynthia watched his leaving back, she also turned around and walked to the Lewis Incorporated Fashion Show on the third floor.
