Chapter 10 What Right Does She Have?

  • During the next few days, Cynthia found a quieter place so that she could focus on coloring in her designs. Fortunately, she always backed up her designs, so she didn’t have to draw them from scratch. It wasn’t too difficult for her to just add in the colors.
  • In the blink of an eye, it was time for the fashion exhibition, and Cynthia had also completed her designs as promised. A glance at the time told her it was 10 am. The exhibition would start at 3 pm, so she could still make it.
  • After gathering her things, Cynthia left the hotel and went to the most famous beauty salon in Lincoln Bay for a makeover.
  • Today, she would attend Lewis Incorporated’s local fashion exhibition for the first time as an honored guest. The media would be there, for sure, in addition to the top brass in various fields. Naturally, she had to put on a good image so that she would not bring shame to Lewis Incorporated.
  • When Cynthia arrived at the salon, the staff there were very courteous as they walked up to her and asked, “Miss, is there anything we can help you with?”
  • It wasn’t Cynthia’s first time here. She habitually took out her top VIP card and said, “I’ll have a full facial course first. I have an important exhibition to attend at 3 pm, and I’ll need an appropriate look for that.”
  • “Of course. This way, please.” The staff was very polite as they led her into the area designated for top VIPs.
  • Cynthia nodded in response, oblivious to the fact that a woman was staring at her from behind, deep in thought.
  • “Shirley, what are you looking at?”
  • Just then, a voice rang out.
  • The woman, who was still in a daze, quickly recovered her senses and smiled. “It’s nothing. I saw someone who looked a lot like my friend, but I’m not sure if it’s her.”
  • “I see… Well, let’s get going. Lewis Incorporated’s exhibition starts at three, and we worked too hard to get tickets for it. We have to grab this golden opportunity to get to know some of the insiders at Lewis Incorporated. Maybe we can have a shot at getting an endorsement from them by then. If we blow up, we can join any fashion week or fashion show as we please.”
  • If there were any fans at the moment, they would immediately recognize that the two women talking were two budding talents in the entertainment industry. One of them was named Shirley Johnson, and the other was Maureen Collins.
  • “You’re right.” Shirley nodded and took one last glance at the VIP area, smirking as she did so.
  • How could that person be Cynthia? Only the rich and famous have the right to enter the top VIP area in this beauty salon. I could only get myself a mid-tier VIP card after using Larry’s name.
  • Cynthia was forsaken by the White Family, and her boyfriend was also taken away from her. How would a woman like her get such privileges?
  • At that thought, Shirley averted her gaze and walked into the middle-tier VIP member area, behaving as if she were better than everyone else.
  • Cynthia didn’t know about the conversation outside, of course. She was enjoying the massage service, and after the facial course, she went to get her hair done, picked out her dress, makeup, and the like. It was 2 pm by the time everything was done.
  • The staff members at the salon saw her out, and Cynthia prepared to head toward the venue of the fashion exhibition. However, when she was nearing the entrance, she ran into James, who was also on his way out.
  • Needless to say, they were shocked to see each other.
  • What a small world!
  • Cynthia was a little sarcastic in her thoughts as she glanced up and down at James.
  • He was wearing a black suit, and his hair was styled carefully. Pairing those with his almost perfect features, he looked elegant and majestic, like a proud king who was out of reach.
  • Cynthia was a usually calm person, but she couldn’t help but admit that this man could actually be formidably handsome if he tried.
  • James’ expression was more straightforward. He was shocked and also a little pleased at the surprise.
  • Cynthia wore a navy one-shoulder dress which glittered as she walked. The hem of her dress reached her knees, and her figure was accentuated perfectly. Her slender porcelain legs were clearly visible, and her slightly curled hair cascaded over her shoulders. Parts of her hair near her temples were braided neatly and held in place behind her head with bobby pins. A simple platinum necklace adorned her long neck, and her earrings were also a simple pearl design. Paired with her heels and handbag, she looked like a noble celebrity.
  • The simple makeup on her face only worked to enhance her already exquisite features.
  • They met only a few times, but Cynthia had given James entirely different impressions on each meeting.
  • The first meeting was quite normal, the second was a little out of sorts, and the third was breathtakingly stunning. This woman is extraordinarily flexible.
  • “Young Master James, we should go. There might be heavy traffic on South-Central Avenue later, and we mustn’t be late—hm?”
  • While the two were eyeing each other, Charles walked in from outside. When he caught sight of Cynthia, he was taken aback as well.
  • James meant to ask why Cynthia left without saying anything last time, but he looked at the time and decided that he would be running late soon, so he looked away and said, “Let’s go.”
  • However, he hadn’t taken more than two steps when Cynthia called out. “Wait! If you’re going in the direction of South-Central Avenue, can I hitch a ride if it’s not too much trouble?”
  • “What business do you have there?” James raised an eyebrow as he asked.
  • Cynthia was a little awkward as she smiled shyly. “I have some business to attend to over there. It’s not easy to hail a cab here, and I don’t have a car, so…”
  • James stared at her for a long while, then a corner of his mouth turned up as he said mischievously, “I guess you can come along. The fares won’t be cheap, though. Come with us if you have what it takes.”
