Chapter 30 I Don’t Have a Home

  • “Hey Deedee, it’s Daddy. I’m glad that you were willing to pick up my call. My attitude toward you was a little harsh the past two times we met, and I’d like to apologize for that.” Dominic started playing the role of a kind and loving father. “It’s been a while. Would you like to have lunch with your old man? You were in a rush to leave the past two times, and we haven’t gotten a chance to sit down for a meal in a while. I miss you a lot, and I miss how we used to get along really well.”
  • Cynthia was taken aback by his words. She recalled how Dominic used to speak to her in this same, gentle tone—he was rarely stern toward her in the past. His voice brought back memories of how things had been like when her mother was still alive. However, just a year after her mother’s passing, Faye moved into the White Residence along with Keith and Daisy. Dominic hadn’t addressed Cynthia in such a tone since then, and they would get into arguments with each other every time they spoke.
  • She wasn’t used to Dominic’s sudden change in attitude. “Is there something you want from me? You can just tell me directly. I don’t have the time to meet you.”
