Chapter 53

• Tasha had just returned from the hospital, where the doctor had just given her the news of her pregnancy, there was a light in her eyes as she touched her stomach, replaying the doctor's words in her head, perhaps, this child will make Dave love her, he would finally look at her as his beloved wife and not a substitute for his runaway bride, she loves Dave but she loves his money more and she won't give up on any of them, she can't wait for him to return so she could give him the news, she got changed and wore her best gown for him, she just finished applying makeup when she heard his car drove in, soon she heard his footsteps, she put on a smile and went to him, hugging him, he pushed her away from him, eyeing her like a plague, Tasha felt hurt but quickly masked it, he would soften when he heard her news.
• Dave eyed her coldly, he felt disgusted by her sight but like a leech, she wouldn't let him be, he wondered why she was so dressed up, he got inside and removed his suit, his business was slowly winding down and the thought of going bankrupt scared him, his dad had given him that business to test his capabilities, he had often ran into debt and his dad had always bailed him out, the last time he had gone to him, his dad had told him that was the last time and Dave had readily agreed, but now, the same story was happening over again and all Tasha could think of was more ways of spending the money, he felt irritated and annoyed just at the sight of her.
• She placed his favorite drink in front of him and sat opposite him, she cleared her throat and he glanced at her, "I visited the hospital" she paused but he only grunted in reply and poured a drink into his glass. "I am pregnant" Dave paused the wine glass he was about to put on his lips, his expression looked like he has just been punched, "what did you say?" He sounded as if he didn't hear her, maybe his hearing played a prank on him.
