Unknown to Rose, her quiet escape hadn’t gone entirely unseen. From her own bedroom window, Laura caught sight of her friend’s slender figure slipping out from the pack house, nimble as a shadow in the moonlight. At first, Laura simply stared, her lips curling in disgust as the realization sank in.
