  • Many days had passed, and today would be the full moon. I didn’t know why, but a sense of unease clung to me, heavy and persistent, like a shadow I couldn’t shake. I had this bad feeling that something would go wrong today. I didn’t know what exactly—only that Rose wasn’t safe. The thought lodged itself in my chest and refused to move.
