• By the time we arrived at the pack house, the tension of the night still lingered in the air like smoke after a fire.
• The warriors dismounted and gathered around Beta Marcel, delivering their report with grim faces and clipped tones. All the rogues had managed to escape. Marcel’s jaw clenched as he listened, his disappointment obvious, but he didn’t dwell on it. With a curt nod, he dismissed the warriors and sent them off to resume patrol.
