• “I still think you need to tell your father about what happened tonight,” Tristan said, his voice low but firm as his gaze swept toward the darkened windows of the pack house behind us. “He should tighten security around your room. That guy—whoever he is—I’ve got a strong feeling he’s going to come back.” He paused, then offered a small, strained smile. “Or… I could stay and keep watch. Just to be safe.”
• I gave him a soft, awkward smile—grateful, but torn. “That’s kind of you, Tris, but you don’t have to worry. Really. I’ll be fine.”
