Chapter 51 The Blessing Hunt - Part Il

  • I was crouched behind a thick pine tree, my eyes scanning the forest for any sign of movement. My grip on my bow and arrow tightened, feeling the tension in my muscles and the adrenaline in my veins. Something in me had stirred up and changed after yesterday. I can’t bring myself to remember what had happened after I found him and had run into his arms. But something inside me wants to hold on to him. To the feeling and to the fate and bond that binds him with me.
  • I had been tracking a deer for half an hour, following its hoofprints and scent. It was a large buck, with a majestic set of antlers. It would make a perfect offering for the Moon Goddess, even though it was not her blessing that I sought. I just wanted to make a sacrifice that would collide with Sigrún’s. I couldn’t care less if that seemed childish or perhaps zealous.
  • I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. I had to focus on the hunt. I heard a rustle in the bushes ahead of me and saw a flash of brown fur. The deer was close. I moved silently towards it, drawing my bow, and aiming carefully. I waited for the right moment when the deer would expose its vital organs. My breathing was slow and steady, feeling my heartbeat in sync with the deer. And just behind my prey, I saw a glimpse of someone utterly familiar. A wink he offered me. As he pressed his finger against his lips before disappearing into the darkness. I suppose he too doesn’t want Sigrún’s hunt to go successfully. But I have to say, he has the guts to interfere so openly.
