Chapter 23

• Bella’s POV
• After I finish showering in the bathroom I go into our bedroom to get dressed. Upon entering our room, I look around and don’t see Ivan anywhere. I quickly put on a short sleeve dress, panty hose, and some heels. On days like today all I want to really wear is yoga pants and a t-shirt, but that is unacceptable for a mafia Don’s woman to wear such clothes. I trudge off towards the dining room. As I am approaching the smell of the food hits me, and my stomach starts to turn. Ivan, Kat, Enzo, and Theo are already seated around the table eating. I take my seat next to Ivan wishing I could have just stayed in my room.
• Not wanting to draw attention to myself I slowly look around at the food trying to find something that doesn’t make me want to barf just by seeing it. I decide on a biscuit and eggs. I can feel Ivan staring at me when I make my plate. I chance a peek over at him when I sit back down. He doesn’t even look away when we make eye contact instead, he tells me, “Eat.” I pick up my biscuit and take a bite. When I get my food chewed up I have to force myself to swallow it. I’m three bites in before I have to jump up and run off to the bathroom.
