Chapter 6
- "I don't like it," he said directly after my presentation.
- I secretly clenched my hands behind my back. I was looking forward to it. However, I still hoped that everything would change after I laid out the plans. My heart had been pounding throughout the entire presentation, and I could feel the sweat forming at the back of my neck. Every word, every diagram I showed seemed to hang in the air like it was being weighed and measured. My fingers itched to adjust the papers in front of me, but I restrained myself.
- I could see the playful smirk on his lips, but my eyes didn't focus on it. My dad's disappointed look caught my attention at all. Even though it doesn't look like he's blaming me, I know he's disappointed because he also felt that we won't be able to get Mr. Revelar. I could feel the tension thickening in the room, like a heavy fog that made it hard to breathe. Every passing second seemed like an eternity, and I wondered if my face betrayed my anxiety. I silently cursed myself for every tiny misstep I thought I might have made.
