Chapter 27
- The days passed quickly. It's been almost a week since Agustine and I made up. So far I could say that our relationship was going smoothly. I'm also trying to find time to introduce him to Daddy as my boyfriend but his meetings are always out of town. The thought of finally being able to do it—and the anticipation it brings—makes me nervous, though I try to hide it. I keep imagining how Daddy would react if he saw Agustine, how he would scrutinize him as he always does. Despite the anxiety, I feel an odd excitement bubbling inside me every time I picture it.
- "Are you done?" Agustine asked as he stood in front of my table. His presence is always commanding, even when he’s not trying to be, and somehow he manages to make my heart skip a beat. I feel an instinctive need to impress him, even in the smallest of ways. I glance at the papers on my table, wondering if I had been too slow or careless, and my chest tightens slightly.
- I couldn't avoid rolling my eyes at him then took the last folder that I was going to distribute. "My car will be damaged because of you," I said as I grabbed my bag. Even though I scold him, I can’t help but notice the faint smirk on his lips. He knows exactly how to push my buttons without even trying, and somehow, it only makes me more aware of his presence. The tiny weight of my bag in my hand seems heavier now, though I know it’s nothing compared to the weight of my emotions.
