Chapter 12

  • THE surroundings were dark when I woke up. I don't know what time it is, all I know for sure is that it's late. Shadows stretched across the room, mingling with the faint light that filtered through the curtains. My head throbbed slightly, and my body ached with a dull, persistent ache from last night’s exertions.
  • I roamed my eyes inside the room and found no one. The stillness of the condo was almost oppressive, the silence a stark contrast to the storm of sensations I had endured. I slowly got up and winced as I felt a slight pain in my womanhood. My body was still tender, every movement a reminder of the intensity of the previous night.
  • I don't know whether to be thankful that it wasn't as bad as it was before or to be scared because this is how I always ended after we have sex. My mind wavered between relief and dread, unsure of how to reconcile the lingering soreness with the undeniable intimacy we had shared.
