Chapter 41
- "Mommy?" A tiny familiar voice was trying to wake me up from my deep sleep.
- I let out a whimper before slowly opening my eyes. "Gia." I smiled after seeing her in front of me, tightly holding her stuffed toy—Stitch. The soft morning light from the window caressed her small frame, and I could see the faint traces of sleep still clinging to her rosy cheeks. The sight made my heart ache in that warm, tender way only mothers feel.
- Her head moved slightly to look at me. Later she came closer and placed her little hand on my forehead. I could feel the soft warmth of her tiny fingers, the gentle insistence of her touch, and the innocent curiosity in her gaze.
