Chapter 29
- "Here, have a drink," said Agustine while handing me a glass of water.
- My mind was wandering nowhere, but still, I accepted the drink. The liquid felt cool against my lips, but my thoughts refused to settle, tumbling over themselves like restless waves. We are now in the living area of the house. I was sitting on the couch while he remained standing in front of me even after I took the glass from him. I took a sip. The silence between us was heavy yet comforting in its way. I can't look at him because my brain is still full of thoughts, and even the faint sound of his breathing seemed to echo in my skull, magnifying every worry I carried. The sunlight filtering through the windows danced lightly on his sharp features, making him almost untouchable in his perfection, which only worsened the weight in my chest.
- Later, I felt Agustine gently take the glass I was holding and put it on the center table. After that, he sat next to me and gently took one of my hands. I could feel the warmth of his fingers, the carefulness in his grip, and the way his touch seemed to whisper reassurance even without words. He let out a sigh as he gently massaged my hand, and I realized how much I had been craving this small, simple gesture. It was grounding, anchoring me when the storm of my thoughts threatened to pull me under.
