• FIVE DAYS AFTER THE PHONE conversation with Martina, which ended with tons of unanswered romantic questions drilling Martina’s mind. Abram returned to his diary to answer the question of “whether ‘gay people’ have existed in Africa or not?” But before he could start where he stopped his writings on his digging, he remembered a particular phrase Martina used the day she called him on the phone.
• “Festus, am I not attractive like any other opposite sex in your eyes?”
• This phrase began the first thought of Abram when he started his diary. I was perplexed when she asked me that question. I was sickened in my brain that I avoided giving her a vague answer, so I lied to her to compliment her beauty.
