• I AM NOW CORPSE MYSELF in the middle of silence and solitude. Twenty One nights later, my Mrs tap me while I was in the bed sleeping. Gently she said "Emmy, take a shower, we are going to Hill Crest". "Where is Hill Crest"? I asked. "Just go take your shower, time is running against us. We need to be at park before 6am so we can move in first bus" she said. For me, not to ask too many questions that will get her angry. I gently walk to the bathroom, stretching myself, in order to clean up, while wondering Hill Crest.
• The bus left Lagos and arrived in Jos the next morning. At the popular park, she asked one of those cab driver where is Hill Crest. The man in his native language said madam, shey no be dat Christian boarding school? "Yes" (in the same language) she replied, "It is that boarding school". "Okay", the man said. "I will take you there". "How much"? She asked. "Madam, it is N1500". "Ha! She exclaimed, "haba! wetin, Oga! Sir, I can only afford N500". She continues "I am taking my son to school, who just gain admission into Hill Crest Boarding School."
• With a smile, the cab driver said "okay. Ma, pay N1000 so I can driver you to the school. When we got at the school gate, the whole place was quite. We only say security personnel. My Mrs in her usual style walked down and asked. "Oga, I beg where de admission office dey fo dis skool? The security personnel replied and said "ma, you need to show some ID"? She looks at the man with bored face and brought her traders ID, but the man, who I suspected has been over stressed, replied rudely "ma, this ID is invalid".
• She was furious and said "Mr, you said this ID is invalied? How is it invalied? An ID card issued to me as treasurer in a traders association I belong". The man ignored her and begin to attend to other visitors by giving them directive of where they are going. "Mr, I am talking to you"? She said. She was furious. Her face was red like the face of Mars. I was scared looking at her. Fearing what possibly might happen if the security personnel fail to attend to us.
• I got to realize the checking of visitors was on the recent boom blast in plateau, which has resulted to why all boarding schools, are taking precautionary measures to check who passes the school gate. With what took place at the school entrance, my Mrs was not happy. She said "I don't know a boarding of such magnitude will have personnel at the gate to check on visitors despite is Christian boarding." I wanted to tell her is just temporary caution but she doesn't want to listen.
• I looked at my Mrs with shock and smile. When she notices I was smiling, she asked "Emmy, why are you smiling"? "Nothing mum, I replied. I just remembered what my science teacher said about force. 'Force you said. What about it? She asked. I smile again and sigh "hmm, force". She looked at me and replied my smile with "you don't want to say anything about the question I asked. Why then, are you still smiling?" She frowns and throws it at me. "Do you want me to roar on you, all the insult received at the gate from that stupid man?"
