• “Word is that somehow…people who used to follow Sybl…they found out about you,” Tia Mel confessed. “They’ve been combing through all of the United States, trying to track you down. Those dark witches even attacked the hospital you were born in. They somehow ended up at your father’s house. Kyle is trying to figure out where Joel is and if the witches have him or not…one thing we know for certain is that they have no clue how you came into existence. So they’re unaware that your grandmother was a surrogate and your mother was born from Sybl’s eggs. There is an assumption that you might be a second daughter of Sybl. We’re trying to make sure they never find out exactly how you came to be.”
• “Wait…Kyle’s trying to find Papa?” I queried, realizing that if Kyle was trying to do that, he never would have done what my papa had claimed. Kyle would have never tried to purposefully manipulate Papa into staying away. I felt embarrassment wash over me for ever doubting Kyle.
