Chapter 48

- The elevator doors sliding open brought me back to reality, and I hastily turned my face away from him. His hands dropped from my face, and he stepped away from me, gesturing for me to exit the elevator first. Complying, I was greeted by an even more stunning sight: the entire penthouse was illuminated by the golden sunset, casting an ethereal glow across the entire expanse of the beautiful white marbled foyer.
- Gabriel led me through the extensive living area, which featured a massive entertainment center, a fully stocked bar (it was a good thing Papa wasn’t here), and a sprawling dining table that could seat at least twenty people. The furnishings were extravagant, the decor lavish and expensive. I was pretty sure there were a few paintings that belonged in a museum. Rembrandt definitely did not come cheap.
