• But the bond’s burning under my skin, my wolf prowling, hungry, wild, and impossible to ignore. The longer I move inside her, the harder it is to keep control. My hands are shaking, my jaw clenched tight as I try to fight the instinct that wants to take, to mark, to make her mine in every way. Every gasp she gives me, every time she arches to meet my hips, makes the beast in me roar for more.
• She sees it, the tension, the barely-leashed hunger. Her hands slide up my arms, finding my face. I can’t look away from her eyes, can’t hide how close I am to losing myself. She strokes my jaw, pulling me down until our foreheads touch, and I feel her breath, warm and steady, against my cheek.
