• I shouldn’t focus on it, but I can’t help it. Every sound from the guest room filters through my ring, sharp and unmistakable, and the Covenant drags her pleasure into me like a tide I can’t fight. It’s torture, knowing what’s happening just a few doors down, knowing I sent her there.
• I’d hoped—prayed—that one knot would be enough, that the heat would break and she’d come back to me, the nightmare over. But it’s been hours, and the bond hasn’t quieted. Her heat hasn’t subsided.
