• These past three weeks have been strange, a delicate balance of normalcy and underlying tension that I’m still trying to navigate. Killian is either buried in work at his office or here at the house, his presence a constant reminder of the life Aurora and I built without him. He’s grown closer to Emmi in ways that make my chest tighten with a mix of resentment and reluctant gratitude.
• He has a way of explaining the werewolf side of her in simple, gentle terms that she understands, his voice calm and patient as he talks about instincts and senses. He warned us early on that Emmi spending so much time with Aurora wasn’t ideal for a young wolf, Siriadne had already warned us of that, but Aurora said she was wrong. Most pups her age are in pack schools or with nannies who understand the balance of human and wolf needs.
