Chapter 6

  • Oliver’s POV
  • Barely able to contain myself I was able to sit down, that intoxicating smell. I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Closing my eyes I held my breath until both my wolf and I calmed down. That was like a roller coaster ride, it was a high I didn’t want to come down from, but I needed to control myself whatever that was I wasn’t ready for, but it was amazing.
  • “Oliver?” Micah spoke. “You okay?”
  • Opened my eyes, and found him staring at me curiously, “I’m fine. Did you smell that, an overwhelming smell of fresh pine and waterfalls?” I could still taste it on my tongue.
  • Micah cocked an eyebrow. “You’ve lost your mind. There is no such smell here, maybe you should go downtown there is a problem I need to be fixed. Marks is causing a scene.” He said throwing papers at me. “Fresh pine and waterfalls.” He chuckled.
  • Grabbing the papers off the desk, I looked down. One of our coffee vendors was due to make a delivery this morning and hadn’t. Rolling my eyes I seriously didn’t want to deal with this crap today. I wanted to continue to live in my world for a little longer.
  • Grabbing the keys and the paperwork, I needed to take care of this crap and hopefully get back before the lunch rush. Leaving the office Micah was standing by the window talking with Ryan.
  • “What’s going on?” I asked looking at them.
  • “Nothing,” Micah said looking at Ryan.
  • “Why does it feel like the two of you are not telling me the full truth?” I snapped.
  • “Well,” Ryan said taking a breath. “I kind of introduced myself, and warned her about Marks.” He said rubbing his neck. “I lied about living in the apartment complex.”
  • “You seriously didn’t?” I said rolling my eyes. “So now we’re going to have to get an apartment there to ensure she sees you there?” I snapped. “I told you to watch her, not get friendly with her. I don’t even know if there is anything with her.”
  • “But-“
  • “No buts.” I snapped. “You were directed to ensure she made it safely home, and then to come back to the packhouse, I didn’t tell you to go and make friends with her.”
  • “There is more.” He said taking a breath. “She isn’t normal.”
  • “What do you mean not normal?” I snapped.
  • “I told you, something about her is different, she smells different.” He said shrugging his shoulders. “It could be the reason the vampire is curious about her, but I would be careful about her Alpha.”
  • I crossed my arms, him telling me to be careful was crazy. “Don’t worry about me, you be careful and don’t go getting friendly with her.” I snapped.
  • I wasn’t sure if they remembered who I was, I am their Alpha. I took my position very seriously. I glanced across the street, the tea shop was busy, I was happy that she was getting business. Climbing into the car, I thought about her, I wondered if it was her scent I smelled or if it was a perfume she was wearing.
  • Ryan said she wasn’t a wolf, so she was a human. Maybe I was going crazy; I had to get my head away from her. I had to figure out what Marks was doing bothering my business, I was going to give him an ear full. If he was still there, I was going to threaten him with a lawsuit for annoying the hell out of me for no reason.
  • Taking the highway was the quickest way my blood pressure was up and I was annoyed. With the cars all around me driving the speed limit, it was starting to test my limits. I think that is why I liked having the land away from the city.
  • Once I arrived at our vendor, Marks was outside talking with a couple of his guys. He smiled when I pulled up. I tightened my jaw when I got out of the SUV.
  • “Mr. Stone just the one who I hoped to see.” He said walking over with the other two. “Do you know why I am here?”
  • “To annoy the fuck out of me?” I said crossing my arms. “Why are you here Marks?”
  • “Detective Marks.” He growled.
  • “I prefer the latter,” I said rolling my eyes. “Again why are you here?”
  • “I got a tip that you are smuggling cocaine here, and we found some on the pier.” He said with a cheesy smile. “Care to share why you thought you could get away with this?”
  • “You think I would smuggle drugs here to America?” I laughed. “You have some balls thinking you could con something kind of cheesy bullshit like this Marks. How about we do this, get the fuck off my property without a proper warrant.” I said pointing to the road. “You know damn well we don’t import drugs, we are a coffee business, and if I find out you are up to something, we’ll talk to your superior for harassment, you fuck wad.”
  • “Oh come on I know you want to do something Oliver, you were the one that always had an anger problem.” He said taking a step closer to me.
  • He was right, if I lose control everything would go up in smoke, and the feds would be all over this, and they would make the pack's life hell. They would take everyone down, I had to keep control. I couldn’t let this pathetic vampire get to me, I closed my eyes and thought about that smell and instantly it calmed me for some reason.
  • “Forgive me, but I have better things to do. You scared my delivery boy enough, I need to take my delivery with me and get back to the shop.” I growled. “Get the fuck off my property. I’ll file a restraining order on you and this property so even your warrant won’t be able to come here unless it’s someone else coming here.” I growled before leaving him standing there.
  • Walking inside I felt better, my wolf calmed down a little once we were in the office. The boy that was supposed to bring the delivery was sitting in the corner sobbing.
  • “I’m sorry Mr. Stone, they said they were going to arrest me.” He said with tears running down his face. “I didn’t know what to do.”
  • “You’re fine,” I said trying to sound like I cared. “That cop is a bully, take the rest of the week off, once I have everything taken care of he won’t be allowed to come back here, and you will be able to come back in peace,” I said looking around the office, someone had been through the place. “Did he come in here?”
  • “Yes sir, he said he was looking for something on you.” He said sniffling. “But he didn’t tell me what he was looking for. He didn’t find it, his friends came and they went outside.”
  • I growled, but he didn’t hear it, I wondered what he was looking for. Something, I had to get back to Micah, Marks was looking for something and we had to figure out what it was before he had it.
  • “Alright, I’m going back to the coffee shop, if you need something call. But lock up and go home.” I said before leaving with the stuff that was supposed to be brought to us.
  • Walking outside I was glad that Marks and his friends were gone, I was going to have some words with him but didn’t want anything to do with them right now. Closing my eyes I headed out to the highway. It was a quick ride this time, partly due to me speeding there.
  • I decided to stop at the grocery store to pick up some stuff for the BBQ we’d planned for the weekend. I wanted to get in and get out and head back to the coffee shop and let Micah know everything that went down.
  • Running through the aisles, it was going to be a quick trip, that was until I saw her. Soma was browsing the meat department. I wasn’t sure if I should approach her or wait until she is done. That was when it hit me, that overpowering smell of pine and waterfalls. I still wasn’t convinced she was my mate even though Drew was growing mate in my head, I managed to control most of my body.
  • “Hello,” I said trying to sound confident.
  • When she smiled my whole world shattered, if anyone could hear my heart it was beating fast. I wanted to pick her up and kiss her, everything about her told me she was mine.
  • “Hey, seems we keep running into each other.”’ she said holding her hand over her chest. She was blushing, she was beautiful.
  • “Small world,” I said chuckled trying to contain myself but it was getting hard as her scent was filling the air around us. “I came to get some chicken, we are having a BBQ.”
  • “Sounds like fun.” She said pushing the cart out of the way so I could look as well. She grabbed a couple of packs of boneless chicken breasts. “Take care.” she smiled and walked away.
  • I followed her around the store a little longer before I paid for my stuff and waited in my car to watch for her. I should listen to Micah and tell her the truth, Ryan was right, she didn’t smell like a wolf, vampire, or even human. There was something more, something deeper than I’ve ever known.
  • I wasn’t even sure who I could talk to about this, there had to be someone, I would have to wait until I got back to the coffee shop and put up the walls and act like nothing was up, I needed answers and I needed them fast.
  • Micah of course wasn’t there, but that was fine. I put the supplies away and helped Michael at the register as the place was pretty busy. Michelle was busy making cookies, so I helped her here and there with those until Micah came back.
  • As Micah and Ryan came into the coffee shop everything seemed to stand still, a strong smell of Pine and waterfalls overtook the smell of cookies and brewing coffee. I lost control of my body, my wolf took over and pinned Micah against the wall. He inhaled deeply.
  • “What the fuck Oliver! Drew!” Micah growled.
  • “Where. The. Fuck. Have. You. Been?” Drew my wolf growled.
  • “On errands with Ryan why?” Micah said trying to break free but he knew an Alpha wolf in control was impossible to break free.
  • “Her scent, she is mine, why are you touching her!” Drew growled, I almost lost my entire control over him.
