Chapter 6 Chap Five
- I'm not comfortable sharing a bed with someone, especially since I'm always on edge whenever he moves. To ease my anxiety, I placed a pillow between us. Staring up at the ceiling, I started to piece together Damon’s personality. He can be rude, arrogant, and ruthless, yet he isn’t entirely bad.
- I still can’t fully grasp his world—the werewolf thing, the alpha king title. But I understand that being an alpha king means he holds a significant position in this kingdom. And now I’m realizing that I’m his mate, whether I like it or not.
- These thoughts weighed heavily on my mind until they lulled me to sleep. When I woke up the next morning, he was no longer beside me. I yawned, stretched, and noticed the marks on my ankle left by the chains. I sighed deeply, wondering why he chained me in the first place. If he hadn’t, I probably would’ve run for the hills and tried to knock him out.
- “Good morning, ma’am! Your clothes are here, and the bathtub is ready,” a young housekeeper announced. She couldn’t be more than four years older than me.
- “Thank you,” I replied.
- “By the way, ma’am, Alpha Damon said you should wait for him in the dining room. He wants to eat with you,” she added. My eyebrows furrowed. Why do I have to wait? What’s he doing that’s so important? Ah, right. He’s an alpha king. Alpha king my ass, I thought, nearly rolling my eyes.
- After bathing, I put on the clothes she’d prepared. My eyebrows knitted together when I saw it was a long-sleeved dress. Seriously? Do I look like I’m going to church?
- “Excuse me?” I called out to the housekeeper, still in my bathrobe.
- “Yes, ma’am?” she responded.
- “Do you have anything else I can wear?” I asked. She shook her head apologetically.
- “I’m sorry, ma’am, but Alpha Damon wants you to wear that,” she said. I raised an eyebrow, noticing her nervousness at my reaction.
- What is that man thinking? He wants me to wear this old-fashioned dress? I walked into the closet, smirking when I spotted a pair of scissors. An idea struck me. I used the scissors to cut off the sleeves and made some alterations to the waist, transforming it into something more stylish. Pleased with my handiwork, I admired my reflection in the mirror. The dress was now sleeveless, with cutouts that accentuated my curves.
- Take that, Damon! He’s a 200-year-old relic who probably doesn’t even know what fashion is. I can’t believe wolves like him live so long. I doubt I could.
- “I’m done,” I announced as I stepped out of the closet. The housekeeper’s jaw dropped when she saw my altered outfit.
- “M-Ma’am…what—”
- “Don’t worry, Damon won’t mind,” I said confidently, though she still looked worried. I left the room and noticed the numerous guards around. I bet they’re all wolves. Am I the only human here? Now that I think about it... they’re all carnivores! But they’re not literally wolves, right? They can turn into humans... Argh, this is so messed up!
- The guards opened the dining room doors, revealing a long, extravagant table filled with food. I blinked in surprise. Is this all for breakfast? Why so much?
- “This is your seat, ma’am,” the housekeeper said, pulling out a chair for me. I was about to reach for my spoon when she reminded me, “Ma’am, Alpha Damon said you should wait for him.”
- I rolled my eyes and leaned back in my chair. What the hell? Do I really have to wait? What if I’m starving?
- Five minutes passed, and still no Damon. I was starting to glare at the food.
- “Can you ask your Alpha if he plans to eat or not? I’m starving!” I demanded. The housekeeper quickly nodded and left. I sighed heavily, staring at the food again. I wonder if Mom’s okay. Does she have enough to eat? I need to get out of here. I have to escape.
- “I’m here,” Damon’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. He took a seat across from me, but his eyes immediately narrowed when he saw my altered dress.
- “What are you wearing?” he asked darkly. I forced a smile.
- “It’s the dress you wanted me to wear,” I replied.
- “No, it’s not,” he said, clenching his jaw and shooting a glare at the housekeeper who’d brought the dress. She looked like she was about to faint.
- “I just made a few adjustments. Your taste in clothes is for old hags,” I said defiantly.
- “Didn’t I tell you to follow my rules?” His tone grew more dangerous. Damn, I’m starving! Can we argue about this later?
- “What? So, you’re going to decide what I wear too? Why don’t you try it on yourself then?” I snapped sarcastically. His brown eyes narrowed, and suddenly, I felt nervous under his gaze.
- “Stone,” he called out to the burly man. So that’s his name, huh?
- “What is it, Alpha?” Stone asked.
- “Remove the plate and food from in front of Athena. She won’t be having breakfast today,” Damon commanded, and my eyes widened in shock.
- “What?!” I screamed.
- “And put tape over her mouth. She’ll watch me eat,” Damon added.
- “You fu—” I didn’t even finish my sentence before Stone taped my mouth and handcuffed my hands behind me.
- Damon looked at me coldly. I couldn’t believe it! Fuck him! After making me wait for breakfast, he’s doing this? Fuck you, Damon! You bastard Alpha king!
- “I warned you. Breaking my rules means punishment, Athena,” he said mercilessly.
