Chapter 30 Chap Twenty-nine
- I’m a bundle of nerves, pacing restlessly in the room as my heart pounds. Today is the day—the first time I’ll be speaking before a crowd… or should I say a gathering of wolves?
- Today marks the anniversary of Alpha Devon’s death, and everything’s prepared for the occasion. I’m dressed in an elegant white gown, its high neckline and puffed sleeves lending an air of grace. The bodice has fine details with darts, and the long, flowing skirt gathers smoothly at the waist. Even after all this time, I’m still not used to wearing these Victorian-style dresses typical of Agama’s kingdom.
- The door opens, and Anna steps in, dressed in her usual handmaid attire. She bows respectfully before announcing, “The Alpha is waiting for you, Luna.” I nod, recalling Damon’s words from yesterday about the anniversary being more than just a remembrance—it was the day of a bloody battle, often marked by skirmishes with rogue wolves opposed to the rule of the Scots. Damon had told me these rogues were once defectors from Agama and seemed fiercely loyal to an unknown leader. The realization makes me uneasy; I know Damon is their primary target.
