• “Why do I feel like something's changed between you and the Alpha?” Anna asked, helping me finalize the speech for an upcoming event just a few days away. I couldn’t help but smile at her comment, though I stayed quiet, focusing on my writing to polish my speech.
• “I saw that smile, Luna,” she teased. “I knew this was coming.” I wiped the grin from my face, narrowing my eyes at her.
• “And what exactly do you mean by that?” I asked, raising an eyebrow. Although others saw Anna as just my handmaid, to me, she was my closest friend. She was the one I confided in about my frustrations with Damon, and somehow, she always seemed to know me, despite the short time we’d known each other.
