Chapter 13 A 'Caring' Friend (Two)

• Before nine at night, I’m standing in front of the massive house that Jessica lives in all alone. Her ex, Sebastian had gotten it for her. For a second, I feel the familiar jealousy course over me. Jessica has it all … everything, yet she prefers to act like a crazy person, as though she’s the only one in the world who has suffered. Of course, I never let on about how jealous I am of her. After all, I’m still trying to get back in her good graces after what had happened the last time, not that if the opportunity presents itself again, I won’t take it. It’s a dog-eat-dog world, after all.
• “Miss Jessica is not here.” Jessica’s housemaid says tightly when I present myself at the door. From her expression, it is very clear that she does not care for me in the least bit. I wonder if Jessica had told her what happened between us. Who goes telling their housemaid such things anyway?
• “Are you sure? You know she’s not very stable at the moment. I sure hope that you’re not lying and she’s not injured or something.”
