Chapter 23

• Given the frigid weather, Lena continued to fan the brazer in the Alpha's chamber in order to keep it warm. Perched on the ground, she ruminated on what she had learned regarding her mother's passing and the Alpha's possible involvement.
• Initially, she was reluctant to let go, until she learned from a servant that a funeral was taking place in the basement with no witnesses. Lena was certain it was her mother's body without having to be informed. Since the deceased's daughter was not permitted to enter the basement to see the burial, she assumed that Don was burying the corpse since he had been exposed.
• She hated Don even more because of how cruel it was to her. She is only looking at him, wishing she could poison him to death and then be executed too, but it would not work. If the situation is reported, she hopes that someone higher up than Don will investigate it because she wants to see Don suffer and be humiliated.
