• Vanessa's words steadied me a little. It has been so long since Clara's illegal abortion procedure. The doctor who performed it was involved in a car accident. Even if they investigate this now, it would be purely an act of negligence on a doctor's part, and we would be safe. But the problem is not that. It's that Clara can conceive. I'm afraid Edward will discover it.
