• The next morning, I caught a peek at the newspaper. The attacks on me, Edward, and Imogen were so vicious that I could barely catch my breath. Then Dr. Eliza Morton called, telling me all about the whole mess, implying Clara was behind it, attempting to apologize to Edward. All sympathy for that woman vanished.
