• It had been months since Clara Whitmore returned to Bristol. I figured the factory crisis would be a simple matter to correct, but it was more complicated than that. Now, one of my employees had filed a lawsuit against me, and I couldn't leave the country. All I could do was stay here, worried about Clara's struggles—about all of them Oliver Whitfield faithfully kept me apprised of. I was resentful that I couldn't be there to help her, but knowing Oliver was caring for her gave me some peace of mind.
