• Not only was I astonished that Eleanor had come to apologize, but Hugh Ashcroft was also astonished. Eleanor had always been proud and haughty. How could she suddenly lower her head to apologize?
• I kicked Eleanor's leg and broke it. Eleanor despised me to the core then and wanted to sue me for hurting her and landing her in the prison. How could she be so kind now? Not only was she willing to take me back, but she even regretted the incident that year. It was simply marvelous.
