Chapter 26

• She made her way out of the hospital, got into her car, started the engine and drove to nowhere in particular. She was driving but her mind was far away. She needed to be alone, she needed to think things through and that was what she ended up doing.
• Naomi pulled over and drove straight to her apartment. As soon as she pulled up in the driveway, she reached for her phone in her handbag and dialled Victoria, her personal assistant to cancel all her appointments and reschedule for next week. She told Victoria to come up with any excuse she could think of and sincerely apologize on her behalf.
• “Okay, but is anything the matter Naomi? This is so unlike you to cancel appointments. Wait what did the doctor say?” Victoria asked, concerned. She was a year younger than Naomi and has been working for her for almost a year. They had a very good boss-employee relationship which was why they were on a first-name basis and they could talk about anything.
