• For the past few days since Kaia settled in at the villa, Kai has tried his utmost best to get her to utter more than a word to him, but his efforts were worthless. It didn’t matter that she would either be with the maids or with Jane. She would be smiling from ear to ear and be fully conversant with them, but whenever he butted in, or he made himself known, her mood automatically changed.
• At this point, Kai was certain even their next-door neighbour knew that he was on bad terms with his wife.
• Still, he didn’t relent in his efforts. He had gone to great extremes to have her back home. He had gone as far as ruining any chance he had at changing the perception Kaia ’s parents had of him. He risked it all to have her back at the villa and he was not going to give up. That option did not even future on his list.
