Chapter 17

  • Anger spiraling through her body, Kaia walked back to her room. She was fuming with undiluted rage, and it felt as though flames were leaving her body. Her skin shivered, and tears of fury welled up in her eyes.
  • Kaia couldn't remember the last time she'd felt like this. Actually, she could. It was back in primary school, when a kid kept teasing her for bringing her favorite stuffed animal to class. His teasing escalated until the other kids began bullying her. Still, she didn’t retaliate.
  • But one day, after recess, she returned to find her stuffed animal torn to pieces and tossed in the trash. She immediately knew who to blame.
