• It was five p.m. when Kaia decided to return home. After her conversation with her parents that morning, she needed some air to clear her thoughts. She ended up at the park she’d visited a while back. She sat there for a while, and when her stomach churned, she realized she hadn’t eaten anything — especially since she skipped the breakfast she’d made for herself.
• She decided to head over to a burger hub to grab something to eat. It turned out to be her lucky day — not only did she get a free meal, but she also landed a job. So, she returned home in a better mood than when she’d left.
• But as soon as she walked through the front door, she found her parents seated in the same spot they’d occupied that morning.
