• Kaia had showered and was now lying on her bed. She wasn’t asleep—there was no way she could sleep, not without getting the explanation she deserved from Kai.
• Sitting upright, her legs crisscrossed and arms folded in her lap, the young brunette stared into space. The room was quiet, so quiet that, at times, she thought she could hear her own thoughts echo. But the ticking clock on the wall and the heavy thud of her heartbeat occasionally brought her back to reality.
• She tried to push her thoughts aside, but her mind kept drifting back to earlier that afternoon. She shut her eyes, only to snap them open again when the image of Kai’s tongue sliding into the blonde’s mouth flashed behind her eyelids.
