Chapter 67 Running Away
- Hope flared into Layla's heart, confident that she had found her way out. She began to plan how she could get out of the room unseen and reach a place where she could flee.
- After she had been beaten and battered, the king had instructed his guards to take her into a room, clean her wounds, and make sure she rested before they released her. But then she felt unease within her. If she went back to where they had first come to arrest her, they might keep coming back to arrest her.
- Being very thin and very fit was a great help when climbing out of a tiny window. It was still dark, but dawn was on the horizon. The window was high off the ground, but Layla hung from her fingertips and dropped the last couple of feet. She was dressed entirely in dark clothes, her hair hidden beneath a dark scarf. Groping around in the dark, she found her way. She stayed very still until her eyes had become accustomed to the dark.
