Chapter 54 The Embarrassing Kiss

• Kara suddenly remembered that she had told Kyle to come and pick her up that evening. She had not eaten all day, apart from a snatched sandwich at lunchtime, and the lights of the riverside had beckoned her in. When Doctor Dufe drove her back to the hospital, she felt her stomach turning— it was as if her intestines were in a tug of war.
• As she lifted up her head, she sighted Kyle just at the corner of the hospital, waiting patiently in his car. He must have asked at the hospital and been told that she had rushed out. She quickly said her goodbyes to Doctor Dufe and headed towards Kyle.
• Kyle was already upset that he was kept waiting. "What happened?" he asked, and Kara explained, "I'm so sorry to have kept you waiting. That's what happened."
