Chapter 130 Little Vixen
- Her feelings in a turmoil, Layla went about her work that day in a daze, but luckily, she wasn't expected to do very much except make the lunchtime sandwiches and cook the evening meal. The crew made a special occasion of the weekend roast, putting on clean clothes and smartening themselves up. Layla supposed she had better do the same and put on the sundress that Alfred had given her.
- Her skin had turned to a pale gold, and luckily, her eyelashes were naturally dark in contrast to her fair hair, so that she had no need to apply any makeup, although tonight, some blusher would have enhanced her pale cheeks.
- Alfred took a chair at the head of the long table, and the crew all sat around on the benches. Roy helped Layla bring in the vegetable dishes, but she carried the roast on its large plate and put it in front of Alfred to carve. She didn't look at him as she did so, but she knew that his eyes had run over her in the sundress. Was he thinking of the original owner of the sundress, who was unfortunately her?
