Chapter 50 Atonement 2

  • Xiomara looked towards the door as if to check if someone was standing there monitoring her but she didn't see anyone, she gradually shifted her gaze back to the card to have a second look at it before she finally picked it up. She inhaled and exhaled deeply before she tore the card open and rolled her eyes. "This guy just creeps me out," Xiomara said looking towards Morris's office door, he was the one that dropped the flower and most have coincidentally used the same design of the card. Xiomara glanced at the card rereading the words "Will you be mine, I'm a free man again," "You must be happy aren't you?" Xiomara scoffed as she squeezed the card and tossed it into the waste bin. She dropped the flower and made to sit but she heard the last voice she wanted to hear at that time, she looked towards his office door and found him standing there. "How come? He wasn't standing there minutes ago," Xiomara thought as she didn't hear his office door open. She flashed him a smile ignoring his question which she has no answer to must Morris went ahead to ask again. "Aren't you interested in being my wife?" Morris asked. He saw the way she mishandled his card before tossing it away and didn't need to be told that she wasn't on the same page with him.
  • "You and your wife just got a divorce and she's in a lot of problems right now Morris, this isn't the time to flirt with me," Xiomara said. "Besides I'm not interested, I already have a family which I can't wait to go back to," Xiomara wished she could add the last part but that would just be selling her off. Morris nodded his head as he made his way towards her. "I love you Genesis and I don't care about Ruby, you of all people should know that, why don't we just start dating now and then get married immediately everyone forgets about Ruby," Morris said but Xiomara shook her head in disapproval. "I don't believe in Marriage Morris, so I can't marry you and I don't want to date you, let's just stick to professionalism, you are my boss and I'm your secretary," Xiomara said. "But we had sex," Morris said bringing up the same topic Xiomara has been avoiding all along. "Yeah, it was a mistake, I was drunk and didn't know what I was doing so it doesn't count," Xiomara said "It does count for me," Morris began looking deeply into Xiomara's eyes. "I love you Genesis and I don't care if you were drunk or in your right sense, all I know is that it counts with me because I love you and nothing is going to change that," Morris said holding Xiomara's hands.
  • "Just support your wife through this rough time, she is really going through a lot and finding out the person she killed for doesn't love her hurts, that was her cousin," Xiomara said breaking out from Morris's hand. "Would you kill for me?" Morris asked and Xiomara glanced at him wondering where that was coming from. "Hell no, I'm not going to kill for anyone who isn't my family, I can kill a thousand if they try to hurt my daughter but you Morris, I don't really give a damn about you," Xiomara thought, the question sounded absurd to her. "You are free to answer me sincerely because I know I would kill for the one I love and damn the consequences, I love you Genesis so I can kill for you, so answer me," Morris said. "No, I can't kill, I don't think I did be able to kill a fly," Xiomara said. She figured out that if she told Morris she can't kill for him just because she doesn't love him it would make him angry so she decided to keep it all simple, she can't kill anyone which of course sounds less offensive. "Yeah you are an angel," Morris said. "But you know Ruby killed for love, the only difference is that it's one sided and I didn't tell her even though I know all along that she was the one that killed her cousin but I didn't report her, she told on herself so she should face the consequences alone," Morris said.
