- “Mom,” I called out repeatedly. I still can’t believe she’s alive. I missed her so much. I wish she had been there during my training, during the years I spent hiding from the world, feeling abandoned and neglected because I didn't have a family or friends. I shook my head to clear my thoughts. Now is not the time to feel defeated. We need to prepare for the battle.
- Her face softened as her gaze met mine. She cupped my face and opened her mouth, but nothing came out. Was she reluctant to trust me? I must be overthinking, because in a few seconds, a satisfied smile appeared on her lips. “You have grown so beautifully, my princess. I am so proud of you,” she stated, and my eyes started welling up with unshed tears. I fought so hard to fight the sobs, trying to escape my lips as I rested my head on the crook of her neck. She gently brushed my hair with her fingers before caging me warmly in her arms.
