Chapter 16 The Alpha Is Dead

• The whole room reeks of antiseptic, with the undertone of cleaning liquid and antibacterial spray. Only the constant beeping of the machine can be heard in the VIP room of the Pack Hospital. Nathan lies motionless on the hospital bed, several wires connecting him to the machines. The doctor removed his oxygen a few days ago after seeing that he could breathe normally on his own.
• The patient's chart hangs on the edge of the hospital bed, and an empty chair sits idly near the bedside table. It’s been twelve days since Nathan was stabbed with silver knives tainted by Wolfsbane. He has not shown any signs of waking up since. Dr. Timothy, the pack doctor, has done double duty since the day Nathan was admitted to the hospital to monitor his progress.
• It was the same day the former Alpha and Luna returned from their trips. They managed the pack affairs in Nathan’s absence as the former alpha used to.
