Chapter 33 CHAOS

  • Hope and the other girls who were released were now racing to get to safety. The Elites had managed to get them to safety but soon the make-shift base camp was overrun by creatures that were coming back from the dead. Hope and other girls managed to find some supplies and changed into gear and carrying weapons and packed their bags with whatever they could carry. The roads were not safe at night, and they had to find shelter before it got too dark. From the distance they saw a dark green merging with what appeared to be dark charcoal smoke as it began blanketing the skies. Many of the girls huddled together, however it was Hope who acted quickly by distributing the al of the masks, which had been given to them by the soldiers who had freed them. She figured if the smoke was moving through the air like nothing; whatever it was, could cause them harm. These military grade mask could possibly be their only saving grace in a world full of chaos. Hope was once a student but had been kidnaped by creatures who made her a concubine, and she was later sold to a master who a few months ago had been taken in by elite soldiers and because she and the others hadn't been turned yet, they were released and taken to a safe haven. However, the world was in a war that wasn't prepared for what was going on. the doors were sealed the best they could do under the circumstances. The place had a few huts built and two large buildings, for tonight they would hunker down and when it was morning's sunrise, they would explore this place. They would get whatever supplies and weapons that could be found before heading back out again. Hope would do the first watch with another girl as the others slept and then switch shifts so that everyone pulled their own weight.
  • Outside however, Walker was leading his men along and beside him was Hiram and his pack, who were moving lightning fast. Though they were firing at the rear because creatures that who had become possessed were giving chase. The smoke which had infiltrated the skies were not only reanimating the dead, causing them to go after those alive. Not to mention what it was doing to the creatures who had fallen in battle or were not fast enough escaping the dark charcoal smoke. They no longer looked like Lycans or vampires or whatever they had been, but something in the smoke was amping them up and making them harder to kill. Walker saw where one of the domes had been labeled on the map and he knew there would safety. He reached two grenades off his utility belt and heaved them into the air, and they ran faster crashing into the buildings when the girls who were huddled together screamed as both Hope and Wendy raised their guns as did Walker and his team. Hiram and the others saw humans wearing mask, they must have seen the dark green clouds merging with the other darken charcoal clouds. No one was lowering their weapons when they heard roaring sounds as they turned to see a massive creature running towards them. Everyone aimed straight at the massive beast and started firing until it crashed mere yards. Hope grabbing one of the two lanterns they had lit, and she threw it onto the creature. She remembered what one of the Elites had instructed her and the others to do while the soldiers were firing their weapons. They had all the humans to burn the bodies of the deceased, that were taken down, so they wouldn't come back. Walker looked at the young girl, "What was that for?"
  • "One of the Elite soldiers told a bunch of us while they were killing these creatures to burn the bodies."
