Chapter 11 The Crimson Knight

  • The Black Death had finally passed but already it had done it’s damage. So many of the mortals including his father and his half-sister were now buried. His mother couldn’t burn her child’s corpse. Arran Buchanan and his mother were all that were left from their clan. Both he and his mother were but a few that were left of the primordial wolves. Arran who was fifteen when his mother had fallen for the highlander. He was now seventeen and leading his mother through the area. When they had buried their loved ones, his mother was full of grief. His sister wasn’t strong enough as the plague had hit very hard. His mother did try to save her daughter but she being only half breed, his little sister either had the trait or she didn’t. There was howling in the distance, and he knew what they were, rival pack. Now that his mother didn’t have a pack that meant she was opened season. He had a hard time carrying his mother away from her daughter’s burial. Though he was strong his mother was screaming and crying and repeating over and over that her daughter needed her.
  • “Momma, Heather is dead. Robert is dead. If we don’t go, we will be attacked by the rival pack. We got to move now!”
  • His mother said nothing as they quickly made their way but to his surprise the pack were already catching up with them. His mother and he quickly shifted and started running faster trying to put some space between them and their enemy but no such luck. They were flanked and Arran though he was young his mother knew he wouldn’t be able to fight them all off.
